NZSL PLD Project Coordinator


Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education is seeking a proactive and skilled Project Coordinator to support the delivery of our New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and Deaf Bilingual-Bicultural (Bi-Bi) Professional Learning and Development (PLD) Contract, funded by the Ministry of Education.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a national initiative aimed at enhancing NZSL capability and Deaf Bi-Bi teaching strategies across Aotearoa, ultimately improving learning outcomes for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) ākonga.

THE ROLE / TE MAHI

Reporting to the NZSL PLD Contract Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to understand contract scope in order to define workstream requirements and objectives.
  • Coordinating internal and external resources, ensuring that workstreams remain within scope, schedule and budget.
  • Analysing progress process against contract deliverables and, when necessary, facilitate scope adaption or timeline to achieve optimal results.
  • Assigning agreed roles and tasks to team members based on their individual strengths & abilities, as well, building of skill sets and facilitating shared learning.
  • Using an accessible planning tool to develop, monitor and report on internal and external workstream tasks and inter-dependencies.

This role is central to ensuring project success through effective coordination, communication and oversight. This is a fulltime, fixed term (one year) role.

ABOUT YOU / MŌ KOE

We’re looking for someone who:

  • A tertiary or professional qualification/certification in a relevant field is desirable.
  • Has 3–5 years of relevant project coordination experience.
  • Is confident managing timelines, resources and budgets.
  • Has software proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Teams, Excel etc.); other project data tools
  • Is detail-oriented, highly organised and communicates clearly across diverse teams.
  • Can demonstrate initiative, flexibility and problem-solving skills.
  • Understands Deaf culture and is willing to engage in learning NZSL (proficiency preferred).
