Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Lead to join our team. This is a permanent, fulltime role which can be based in either Tamaki Makaurau or Otautahi. This is an opportunity to drive HSW strategy and culture in a unique and diverse educational setting, supporting our nationwide staff.
THE ROLE / TE MAHI
Reporting to the Senior Human Resource Business Partner, the HSW Lead will:
- Develop, implement and oversee Ko Taku Reo’s HSW strategy.
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafe NZ and Ministry of Education regulations.
- Lead HSW initiatives, including policy updates, training and reporting.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to promote a safe and healthy environment.
- Maintain and improve HSW systems, including incident reporting and emergency procedures.
- Support staff wellbeing, including access to the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and return-to-work processes.
ABOUT YOU / MŌ KOE
- A level 7 qualification (or higher) in Health & Safety or HR, or 5+ years’ experience in a H&S role.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
- NZSL proficient (or a willingness to learn).
- Experience in education or not-for-profit sectors.
- Proven problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSW reporting systems.
