Relief Van Drivers - Early Childcare Centre


ABOUT US / MŌ MĀTOU

Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education operate two centres for the delivery of early childhood education. We have our Preschool at our Auckland campus and an Early Years Whānau Centre at our campus in Christchurch.

At both centres we provide programmes that encourage language development and offer a place of support for parent and whānau; a caring and welcoming learning environment and time to form relationships, support each other and identify the resources to meet specific needs.

THE ROLE / TE MAHI

We are seeking relief Van Drivers based in our Preschool at our Auckland campus in Kelston to work with us to ensure the safe pick up, delivery and return of learners between family homes and Preschool. The hours are as follows:

Monday to Friday (term time only) 

  • 7.00am-8.30am; and
  • 2.00pm-3.00pm.
 You will form strong trusting working relationships with the parents and caregivers, the child and the Preschool teachers. You will have a:
  • Total commitment to ensuring the health and safety of the learners when in transit. 
  • Clean driver’s licence and up to date knowledge of health and safety regulations are essential.  
  • Safe approach to all driving and following road rules at all times. 

ABOUT YOU / MŌ KOE

You will have a strong affinity with families and enjoy working with them and their children. You will ensure communication is accurate and timely and keep appropriate records of any incidents or issues and report these as required, prioritising the needs of the children in all situations. 

Our ideal candidate will be someone who forms strong trusted bonds with families and preschoolers, can anticipate and manage behaviour in stressful situations and focus on the road ahead. High level of applied common sense and ability to anticipate and prevent issues arising. 

You will also enjoy driving in busy traffic and meeting timeframes whilst driving to conditions and speed limits. It would be preferable that you have strong NZSL skills already or a willingness to learn this quickly. An affinity and understanding of Deaf culture is required.
